AEZ stands not only for TÜV-tested quality, but also for perfect styling, especially in winter. With rims from AEZ, car drivers are always perfectly styled on the road. The high-quality and innovative SRC paint finish ensures that the rims still look great after many years.
While aluminium does not corrode like iron or steel, oxidation will soon lead to an unattractive grey layer. Therefore, the ALCAR SRC paint enhances the wheel’s “natural defences” against roadsalt, intensive sun and small scratches.
The name stands for “salt & sun resistant” while the letter C indicates the sealing coating – primer coat, paint coat, finish or sealing coat. The primer of every rim is always an ultra-hard powder paint in black or light-grey, applied electrostatically and then “baked on” at 210°C for 45 minutes. Following this, the actual “colour carrier” is applied in form of a wet coating, needing another 40 minutes of drying at 180°C. As a transparent sealing and first line of defence against environmental influences, up to two premium, clear lacquers are applied.
Top quality standards
How well the light alloy wheels are protected thanks to SRC is revealed by, for example, the salt spray test on a scratched surface in accordance with CASS and the fact that all paints are pre-tested for corrosion resistance by independent, external labs in accordance with ECE-R124. The test is a 300-hour “hell” of stone chips, salt, acetic acid and copper chloride.
In order to ensure that all the wheels of a series meet the high SRC quality standards attained in those tests, every single product is visually inspected, and the layers are measured: Better safe than sorry, and “Salt & Sun Resistant” for the lifetime of a wheel.
