Customised for the e-future

THE RIGHT RIMS FOR MODERN E-CARS

Although the sales of electric cars are currently slightly declining, they continue to trend across Europe: 11.9 percent of all vehicles delivered in Europe and England were e-cars, hybrids, or plug-in hybrids. The trend is rising, as all manufacturers worldwide are now focusing on e-models and offering them in various classes.

But how do e-cars differ from combustion engines – and what should you keep in mind when buying suitable wheels? AEZ takes a closer look.

Efficiency is key

When it comes to construction, e-cars differ from combustion engines primarily in their design, performance, and weight. This naturally affects the choice of wheels. Good aerodynamics are a top priority in the design of e-cars because it significantly influences the car's range.

Another important factor is the vehicle's higher weight due to the battery. Therefore, it's crucial to pay attention to the load capacity. At AEZ, you can find this information for each wheel in the product description on our homepage.

Tailore-made for maximum power

In most cases, e-cars also have significantly more power than combustion engines – thus placing higher demands on tyres and wheels. The AEZ Alaska, specifically designed for high-performance electric sports cars, is a good example.

It was virtually tailor-made for the Audi e-Tron GT and the Porsche Taycan, two particularly sophisticated and exclusive sports cars. The Alaska has to withstand a lot, especially when the Taycan, with at least 408 hp – and the Taycan Turbo GT with 1,034 hp – is driven dynamically. The Audi e-Tron GT also gains visual sportiness and elegance with the dynamic Alaska, and with 475 hp (530 with overboost), it is a purebred sports car with almost absurd power.

Efficiency, performance, and load capacity

An e-car, especially from the luxury category like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-Tron GT, requires special attention in the construction and design of a wheel. It’s not just about the load capacity, which requires a solid structure. The wheel should also meet the special aerodynamic requirements.

This is well exemplified by the Alaska, available in dark (front-polished) and black design variants. For example, the aero ring reduces air resistance – and its sophisticated, asymmetrical design looks futuristic, or better: contemporary. Despite the delicate design with ten double spokes, each wheel has a maximum load capacity of 700 kg, making it suitable for many other sports cars as well.

Wide selection for every model and type

But AEZ has the right rims not only for ultra-fast e-racers. The AEZ Porto and AEZ Panama, for example, are also developed for modern electric cars. They not only impress with their modern styling but also with a high load capacity, making them ideal partners for heavy vehicles.

Besides e-cars, they naturally fit all other vehicle types as well. The extensive range of suitable AEZ wheels for electric cars – and all other cars – can be conveniently viewed at home using the 3D configurator. This tool also shows how the desired wheel looks on your own car. And for those who are unsure about their choice: We are always happy to help!
