The pioneer’s top hit

E-mobility continues to pick up speed, not least owing to Tesla. With the Model 3, the e-mobility forerunner managed to launch a major hit: It’s currently the world’s best-selling e-car. The mid-range model’s clear-cut lines contribute greatly to this success. The Tesla’s minimalist appearance can be rounded off with the new Atlanta black by AEZ. The classic multi-spoke design is a perfect match for the Model 3’s temperate contours. Elegant and plain – a perfect duo.

This is only one example of many, as AEZ offers the matching “footwear” for a wide range of e-cars, also providing all the necessary certifications.

Sporty handling meets dynamic AEZ wheels

When it comes to handling, the Model 3 has a tendency of always being on the sporty side. However, the power of the drive cannot be felt in the accurate and beautifully weighted steering. The range-topper Performance model brings out its athletic vibe best on 20-inch (standard) wheels, ideally on the distinctly clear-cut AEZ Atlanta black wheel design in accentuating black.

The 15 spokes gently taper towards the flange – a subtle contrast to the massive base. In the dimension 8.5x20, the Atlanta black can be fitted with ECE approvals free-of-registration.

Three trim levels for every application

Currently the Model 3 is available in three motor designs: The base model, simply called Model 3, is a rear-wheel drive. The Internal Permanent Magnet Synchronous Reluctance Motor has an output of 239kW (325hp) and calls for a recharge only after roughly 490km. This model already oozes plenty of sportiness, reaching 100km/h in 6.1 seconds and boasting a top speed of 225km/h.

The Long Range and Performance models are higher-positioned, both featuring an additional engine on the front axle and an 80.5-kWh battery instead of the basic model’s 60-kWh battery. In combination with the standard all-wheel drive, traction is particularly good. The range-optimised version manages up to 602km, the Performance model 547km (all range specifications according to WLTP/manufacturer). The highlight: With 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100km/h, the Performance model accelerates at top athlete level, and a top speed of 261km/h doesn’t sound so bad either. It’s especially impressive how effortlessly, cultivated and almost silently the Model 3 knocks out its power.

Functional interiors, state-of-the-art software

The interior includes only a few physical controls, instead featuring a big touchscreen. As regards interior design, Tesla also cuts its own path. The central screen measures 38cm and controls nearly all functions. This creates more space and an airy feel, much appreciated by a maximum of five passengers. Over-the-air updates make sure that the software is always state-of-the-art.

A number of sensors and cameras are part of the standard trim, lending a helping hand to the driver. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping and lane-change assist, or automatic emergency braking come at no additional cost at Tesla.

Top marks in the Euro NCAP crash test

Not only the assist systems improve safety on board the Model 3. With five stars out of five, all passive protection devices such as airbags (front, head, side), seat-belt tensioners and belt force limiters are also top-of-the-line. Moreover, the Model 3 offers ISOFIX elements for children’s seats on the outer rear seats. The overall result of the Euro NCAP crash test indicates high passenger safety for children and adults with a low to very low risk of injury.
